Aqualus Gordon, Ph.D., L.P.

Dr. Aqualus Gordon is a Licensed Psychologist located in Knoxville, TN. He specializes in counseling for adult and adolescent men, sports psychology, clinical disability assessment, and Jungian and MBTI personality assessments. He is dedicated to helping his clients understand and accept themselves so that they can move forward with clarity and self-confidence.

Dr. Gordon has worked with athletes, coaches, veterans, first responders, fathers, husbands, students, men in recovery, and many others to find peace-of-mind and the resilience to overcome mental illness and other life challenges.

He’s published research on men’s mental health, athlete mental health, human sexuality, personality, and ADHD and is contributing writer for Psychology Today. Dr. Gordon is also an Associate Professor of Psychology & Counseling at Maryville College, where he teaches courses in sports psychology, abnormal psychology, personality theory, and counseling.


Background & Education:

Dr. Gordon is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned his doctorate and master’s degrees in Counseling Psychology, and Wabash College, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology. He completed his clinical residency at the University of New Hampshire Counseling Center, where he provided services to college students, student-athletes, and coaches. His previous clinical rotations include the Veteran Affairs Clinic of Central Texas, the University of Texas Counseling Center, the Williamson County Children’s Advocacy Center, and community counseling centers. In 2020, Dr. Gordon was appointed to the Kansas City Firefighters Medical Board, where he supported firefighters’ in their disability cases re: PTSD.

His hometown is Mobile, Alabama.
